The instinctive approach Catou had to painting was no longer enough for her, she gradually let go of her impulses and emotions guiding each brushstroke, to deepen her studies on drawing, perspective and different artistic techniques. The hours spent studying the works of old masters, experimenting with pigment mixtures and the play of light, gradually transformed her style. Her portraits, once blurred and imprecise, became faithful and detailed representations of her subjects. But, beyond technique, she gave, as always, the highest to colours and their nuances. She has always felt close to animals, which led her to do, among other things, portrait of horses. She spent hours observing them, noting the texture of their coat, their different expressions. She tried to convey their nobility and especially this subtle melancholy that manifests itself in the depths of their gaze. Here too, the colours, the tones on tones, the almost veiled shadows were a great experience for her during the execution of the portraits in oil painting.
